Location Services (master toggle)

HIGH

Controls whether any app can access your GPS location.

ON — but set individual apps to 'While Using' or 'Never'. Don't leave it off entirely or maps and weather break.

Per-app location access

HIGH

Each app has its own permission: Never, Ask Next Time, While Using, or Always.

Set most apps to 'Never' or 'While Using'. Very few apps genuinely need 'Always' — fitness trackers and navigation at most.

Precise Location

HIGH

When off, apps get your approximate location (a few miles radius) instead of exact coordinates.

OFF for social media, shopping, and news apps. ON only for maps and ride-sharing.

System Services → Significant Locations

MEDIUM

Apple tracks places you visit frequently to 'improve Maps and other services.' Stored on-device but synced to iCloud.

OFF. Clear history while you're here. This is Apple's own location tracking.

System Services → Location-Based Apple Ads

MEDIUM

Apple uses your location to serve targeted ads in the App Store and Apple News.

OFF. Apple's own ad targeting.

// TRACKING

Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking

Allow Apps to Request to Track

CRITICAL

The master toggle for App Tracking Transparency (ATT). When off, all apps are automatically denied permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites.

OFF. This is the single most impactful privacy setting on your iPhone. It blocks Facebook, TikTok, and thousands of ad SDKs from following you across apps.
